Fit, fog, and the sunscreen problem
Fit
Press the goggle onto your face without putting on the strap. It should hold for one or two seconds on suction alone. If it falls off immediately, the gasket isn't right for your face shape. If it sticks for more than five seconds, you'll get goggle marks. Adjust the nose bridge — most goggles, including ours, ship with three or four interchangeable bridges in the box.
Fog
Fog is almost never the goggle's fault. It's almost always one of three things:
- Sunscreen or skin oil on the inside of the lens. Don't wipe with fingers. Rinse in fresh water.
- Anti-fog coating worn off. Most coatings last 6–12 months of regular use. Replace, or treat with a drop of baby shampoo before each swim.

Sunscreen
Apply sunscreen before you even pick up the goggles. Wait two minutes, rinse your hands and the area around your eyes, then put the goggles on. The single biggest cause of seal failure in Hawaii is reef-safe zinc oxide getting onto the gasket during application.

Usually goggles are utilitarian to me — use them till the strap breaks, or they leak, toss in recycling bin, buy a new pair. However these Silver Surfer model are on a higher level. First they don't fog. Second, they get a good seal and don't leak. Third, the strap design doesn't pop around the eyes. The other brands who sponsor athletes have spongy rubber eye grips that tear off, brittle plastic nose pieces that break easily and/or flimsy rubber bands for straps that break easily or wear out fast.
